Honey Badger of the Week - Julia O'Malley
This week the public debate over voter proposition 5 took a turn for the worse. Coward, bigot, anti-semite, sexist, racist, dummy; all of these were used to describe anyone who has the audacity to oppose prop 5.
It was only somewhat surprising that Mr. Honeman threw such bombs. He is way behind in the polls so maybe we should expect this tactic, however, most of us assumed from his resume he was a man of character. This election has shown us he, in fact, has very little.
Much more surprising to us is the other people who steered the debate off the road of civility. They are the very people who normally decry the tea partiers for their overblown language. ADN columnist Julia O’Malley generally writes with an aura of intellectual superiority that says “we liberals are smarter than conservatives so all they can do is lob insults like socialist, communist, and liberal.” It was odd then to see Ms. “can’t we be civil” call the Mayor a coward for no other crime than disagreeing with her on a public policy issue.
For her language of hate and blatant hypocrisy we offer this week’s Honey Badger of the Week to ADN columnist Julia O’Malley.
Honey badger is crazy. Eww, look she just used her platform to call the Mayor a coward. She’s just crazy. She has no regard for intellectual consistency, civility, or professionalism. Honey badger just keeps writing her bitterly liberal, errr, I mean “independent” musings.
Honey badger is like, "I don’t have to worry about being held accountable for my hateful writings. I work for the ADN. We just write what we want and there is NOTHING anyone can do about it.”
Honey badger is a badass. Honey badger can’t be touched, not by Anchorage Daily News readers anyway.
